Holy Chip

Home poker game rules template

Most poker-night arguments are rules nobody said out loud. Tick what applies to your game, pick the options, and print a clean list to tape to the wall or send to the group chat before the first hand.

How it works

The list is built in your browser from the boxes you tick. Print opens your normal print dialog, and everything except the rules sheet is hidden on paper. Choose "Save as PDF" there if you would rather send it.

Good house rules are short. Ten lines everyone has read beat two pages nobody has. Pick the options your group already follows and write down only what has caused an argument before.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Common questions

What house rules should a home poker game have?
At minimum: how rebuys work, what counts as a bet (string bets), phone etiquette, what happens when someone leaves early, and how you settle up. Add more only after something goes wrong.

What is a string bet?
Putting chips forward in more than one motion without saying "raise" first. Most home games ban it because it lets you read your opponent before you decide.

Should we allow rebuys?
It is a group choice. Rebuys until the first break keep the game going for early bust-outs. Many groups cap them to one or two so no one spends more than they planned.
