Poker tournament payout calculator
Type how many players and the buy-in. It splits the prize pool by a sensible structure for your field size, in whole dollars, and any leftover from rounding goes to first place so the total is exact.
How it works
The prize pool is (players + rebuys) × buy-in. Each place gets its percentage of the pool, rounded down to a whole dollar. Whatever is left over after rounding is added to first place. That is the one rule, and it means the prizes always add up to the pool exactly.
Auto picks the structure by field size: up to 4 players, winner takes all; 5 to 8, 65/35; 9 to 14, 50/30/20; 15 or more, five places at 40/25/15/12/8. If you pick a structure with more places than players, we fall back to auto.
Everyone at the table should agree on the structure before the first hand. If the last few players want to split, that is their call. The numbers here are just arithmetic.

Common questions
How do you split the prize pool in a home tournament?
Most home games pay the top 10 to 25 percent of the field. With 8 players that is usually 65/35 for first and second. Agree on it before you start.
How many places should get paid?
Four or fewer players: just the winner. Five to eight: two places. Nine to fourteen: three places. More than that, five places is plenty.
What happens to the leftover dollars when the split does not divide evenly?
Each prize is rounded down to a whole dollar and the remainder goes to first place, so the prizes always add up to the pool. The page shows you the remainder.
